Committee to Hear Testimony on Administration’s Rationale Behind Furloughs

HARRISBURG – The Senate State Government Committee will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. in 8 E-B, East Wing of the Capitol Building.  The purpose of the hearing is to receive an explanation of Gov. Rendell’s position on budget impasse-mandated state employee furloughs.  Piccola is the prime sponsor of Senate Bill 1122, legislation designating all state employees as “critical” employees in the event of a budget impasse.  The legislation has been approved by the Senate and is now before the House Appropriations Committee.

Those who will be testifying at the hearing include: The Honorable Naomi Wyatt, Secretary/Office of the Administration; Leo Pandeladis, Esq., Chief Counsel/PA Department of Treasury; and Alaine Williams, Esq., Counsel 13/American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.
